Initial consultation fee will not exceed £250 and follow-up consultation fee will not exceed £130.

 

Academic background

Paul Ursell has devoted his professional life to advanced cataract surgery having performed over 8,000 cataract operations in a career spanning 30 years.

He is a Senior Ophthalmic Consultant at Epsom & St Helier University Hospital Trust, Honorary Consultant at the Royal Marsden Hospital,  Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists where he attends the Professional Standards Committee.

He has undergone extensive training in cataract surgery and is now heavily involved in both teaching and publishing research in this field with over 25 peer reviewed publications on cataract surgery.  He is an internationally invited speaker and an acknowledged key opinion leader in cataract surgery, dementia and sight loss.  He regularly undertakes volunteer surgery camps in South East Asia.

Paul is a UK representative for Ophthalmology on the European Board of Medical Specialties & European Board of Ophthalmology.  Previously he has been a 2 term Trustee of SeeAbility, Treasurer & 3 term council member of UKISCRS (UK & Ireland Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons), President of Epsom Medical Society, Ophthalmology advisor to the Healthcare Ombudsman and Court Assistant to the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers.
