Gastroenterology involves the diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the digestive system (GI tract) including the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and liver.
Here at Ashtead Hospital we provide a full range of endoscopy services to diagnose and treat problems of the GI tract. These include: colonoscopy for the large bowel, gastroscopy for the oesophagus and stomach which can be performed with a lactose intolerant quick test if required. We offer the latest in endoscopy diagnostics including video capsule endoscopy as appropriate.
We have achieved JAG (Joint Advisory Group) accreditation for our GI endoscopy services. The JAG ensures the high quality and safety of patient care by defining and maintaining the standards by which endoscopy is practised.
We are committed to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of all types of digestive disease including common digestive disorders like acid reflux, heartburn and irritable bowel disease, as well as chronic conditions like Crohn’s disease and digestive cancers.
